Looking backA Beastly & Wonderful Art Weekend in Ootmarsum

What an unforgettable weekend! During the Kunstweekend Ootmarsum 2025 at Galerie Art Brut KiK, themed “Beestachtig Mooi” (Beastly Beautiful), I stepped way out of my usual floral comfort zone and dove into the world of animals.

For two vibrant days (29–30 August), I painted live on the gallery’s patio: a bold, Miami-style Twentse Ros (a nod to a large part of my roots) infused with 80’s flair—neon lines, vibrant colors, and pure fun. Visitors could watch the piece come to life, and the energy was electric! From chats with art lovers to meeting fellow creators, it felt like a true creativity without boundaries.

The theme inspired me to create more playful and unexpected subjects, including a regal portrait of Morgan the cat (who completely stole the show). It was a reminder that art thrives when we dare to try new things and embrace the wild side.

A huge thank you to the team at Art Brut KIK for the warm welcome and beautiful space, and to everyone who stopped by, shared stories, or took a piece home. Moments like these make me fall in love with this journey all over again.
